Corporate Social Responsibility (CSR) has become an intrinsic part of general business practice, as companies derive greatly from their commitment to the community. OC India truly believes in this philosophy and pledge to undertake meaningful CSR initiatives in a responsible manner and give back to the society. Being a good corporate citizen, OC India aims to enrich the society by helping the poor and needy sections of the society.

Women’s Health: AI-powered Breast Cancer Screening Camps
  • India’s cancer burden is growing exponentially by the year. Breast Cancer and Cervical cancer are the leading cause of death in women in India. It is reported that every four minutes, an Indian woman is diagnosed with breast cancer.
  • Keeping the above in mind, OC India supported CAPED- Cancer Awareness Prevention and Early Detection Trust, an NGO based in New Delhi working in the healthcare domain since 2014, on a project called "Breast Cancer Screening Camps in the Community" using “Thermalytix” screening technology, which is a novel artificial intelligence-based, radiation- free, non-invasive, and non-touch medical technology to detect breast cancer, developed by Niramai, a startup based out of Bangalore.
  • This initiative aims to screen women from economically weaker sections of society, promoting early detection and timely intervention for breast cancer. Over five months, the project has successfully screened 2,840 women across 159 camps organized in New Delhi, Bangalore, Chennai, Surat, and Ahmedabad. During these camps, a few suspect cases were identified, that will receive further support from Niramai for detailed examinations.

  • OC India continues our CSR activities for the welfare of the society.
    • For the Year 2022-23, we supported the NGO, “Disable Welfare Trust of India (DWTI)” based in Surat, working for the welfare of the differently abled children since 1997.
    • The Trust offers services such as education, training, and rehabilitation to the physically challenged children.
    • They run a school (1st to 12th grades), a computer college, an industrial training institute, a hostel, a physiotherapy centre anda general hospital.
    • We provided a 42-seater school bus and two electric vehicles for the differently abled children for their commuting to school. We also provided the Trust with 28 computers for their computer college which provides bachelor’s degree to the differently abled students.

    Public Health: Doorstep Medical aid to poor elderly people, HelpAge India
    • In addition, OC India also supported HelpAge India which is serving disadvantaged elders in a holistic manner, enabling them to live active, dignified and healthier lives through its various age care programs. The NGO's mobile health program is a proven intervention in delivering health care to vulnerable and unreached sections of the society, bringing healthcare to the doorsteps of India's poorer elders.
    • The company donated one Mobile Healthcare Unit (MHU) to the NGO which is designed to provide Primary Healthcare services for the elderly, namely, free treatment, free medicines, basic diagnostics, home visits by doctor (in case of bedridden patients). Each MHU has a doctor, pharmacists and a social worker.

    Children’s Nutrition: The Akshaya Patra Foundation
    • OC India is happy to continue its support to The Akshaya Patra Foundation (TAPF) in its endeavour to eliminate classroom hunger through the Mid-Day Meal Scheme in government schools.
    • On 7th May 2022, our MD, Director-Finance and our staff visited the NGO in Vrindavan, to attend a flag-off ceremony of three Electric Vehicles (EVs) which the company donated to TAPF under the CSR initiative for the FY 2021-22 for meal distribution.
    • The MD also took a tour of their kitchen facilities where TAPF prepares nutritious mid-day meals for poor children, old age homes, government hospitals for the underprivileged. Vrindavan Kitchen covers 2154 schools and feeds nearly 100,000 free meals daily in Mathura district of Uttar Pradesh.
    Public Health : PM CARES FUND to fight against Covid 19
    • As the Corona pandemic continued to be a major cause of concern world over, OC India decided to further its support to the PM CARES FUNDS to help India’s fight against Covid 19 and accordingly part of the CSR provision for F.Y. 2020-21 was contributed to the fund. Additionally, OC Global also continued its support for the cause and contributed its entire CSR provision for the year to the PM CARES Fund.
    • Children Nutrition and Education: Akshaya Patra Foundation
    • OC India is also proud to support The Akshaya Patra Foundation in its Happiness Kit programme. The NGO strives to eliminate classroom hunger by implementing the Mid-Day Meal Scheme in the government schools and government-aided schools, however, until the cease of pandemic, the Akshaya Patra Foundation is providing the mid-day meal beneficiary children with Happiness Kits.
  • Each Happiness Kit is packed with nutritious food items, immunity boosters, hygiene kit and learning materials and is distributed by the Foundation to thousands of underprivileged primary school children in the country. The objective behind this initiative is to ensure that the beneficiary children continue to receive nutritious meals amid the prevailing crisis and to engage them in activities to support their continuous learning amid the lockdown.
  • Public Health : Supporting Government’s Efforts Against COVID-19 Pandemic
    • The pandemic of COVID-19 has engulfed the entire world and has posed serious challenges for the health and economic security of millions of people worldwide. In India too the spread of coronavirus has been alarming. The Prime Minister of India has set up a dedicated national fund under the name of ‘Prime Minister’s Citizen Assistance and Relief in Emergency Situations Fund '(PM CARES Fund)' with the primary objective of dealing with any kind of emergency or distress situation posed by the COVID-19 pandemic, and to provide relief to the affected.
    • In this distress situation, OC India decided to support the purpose and contribute its CSR budget towards the PM CARES Fund and support the country in its fight against coronavirus.
    • Our parent company, Oriental Consultants Global, Japan (OCG) has also made contributions separately to the PM CARES fund to support India’s fight against coronavirus.
    Public Health
    • The CSR committee of OC India short listed Richmond Fellowship Society, a NGO working in the field of rehabilitation of people with mental illness.
    • The NGO is head quartered at Bangalore and was established in 1986 working in the areas of Mental health. Their purpose is to provide accessible and quality psychiatric rehabilitation and to reduce stigma surrounding mental illness.
    • RFS adopts therapeutic community approach and psychosocial rehabilitation model. Their activities includes Halfway home, Day Care, Community Outreach, Advocacy, Training and Research. Under the Community Reach Program, RFS is providing free psychiatric OPD at Najafgarh (Delhi) and rural Primary Health Centre (PHC) at Bisrack, Greater Noida. Their Advocacy campaigns are conducted to reduce stigma on mental health issues and increase demand for psychiatric services.
    • RFS approached OC India for support to improve the Quality of Life (QOL) of persons with mental illness (PMIs) admitted in their rehab centre “Vishwas” in Greater Noida and to create awareness on mental health issues in selected areas.
    • Generally, the patients are confined within the four walls of the rehab facility and their Quality of Life can be improved through planned social interactions with the outside world. Youth can volunteer and become Mental Health Advocates and spread awareness. RFS was lacking transportation facility for the movement of the patients and volunteers. To fill the gap OC India donated a 25 seater mini-bus to the NGO to support the cause.
    Distress Relief and Disaster Management
    • In August 2017, Kerala was hit by massive floods that destroyed the houses of lakhs of people, leaving them displaced and forced to take refuge in relief camps. There was acute shortage of safe drinking water, food, health facility and shelter. The damage caused by the floods was termed as the worst in a century.
    • To meet the rescue and relief expenditure the CM of Kerala established Relief Fund which has received donations from all over the country. OC India contributed its CSR budget to support the people of Kerala in their hour of distress.
