The Government of Tamil Nadu created a Special Purpose Vehicle (SPV) named “Chennai Metro
Rail Limited” (CMRL) for implementing the Chennai Metro Rail Project
Phase I of the Chennai Metro Rail project covers a length of 45.046 km
network and consists of two Corridors - Corridor-1 and Corridor -2. The first segment of the
section was commissioned on 29th June 2015. On 10th February 2019, the Underground stretch
of the blue line was opened, completing the 45 km network.
Phase II expansion has been planned for a length of 118.9 km network with
128 nos. of Stations. It consists of three Corridor - Corridor-3, Corridor-4, and
Corridor-5.
OCG is key member for the consortium rendering General Consultancy (GC) services for Chennai
Metro Rail Phase 2 Project - Corridor 4 and part of Corridor-3&5
The Phase II construction work is already started and is targeted for completion by the end
of 2026.
